In Nigeria: AIT boss sends greeting cards to Buhari despite corruption trial

Africa Independent Television (AIT) boss, Raymond Dokpesi has sent greeting cards to President Muhammadu Buhari despite his ongoing trial for corruption which is part of the president’s efforts to recover funds looted from Nigeria’s coffers.

Africa Independent Television (AIT) boss, Raymond Dokpesi has sent greeting cards to President Muhammadu Buhari despite his ongoing trial for corruption which is part of the president’s efforts to recover funds looted from Nigeria’s coffers.
Dokpesi sent the cards to Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, on Tuesday, January 5, 2016.
They were delivered by his son and DAAR Communications Chairman, Raymond Dokpesi Jnr and received by the president’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina.

The older Dokpesi has been charged with money laundering by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after collecting N2.1bn out the $2.1 billion arms fund which was allegedly looted under the supervision of National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki.
According to a statement released by the management of DAAR Communications, Dokpesi received the money from Dasuki for “publicity and media political campaigns during the 2015 General Elections.”
The AIT boss was detained at the Kuje Prison after being charged to court by the EFCC.
He was eventually released on bail after which he urged the Federal Government to reform the country’s prisons.
